At Concrete Coatings of the Carolinas, we do the hard work so you don't have to worry about the problems associated with do-it-yourself (DIY) floor coatings. Whether you have a large warehouse, small showroom, or a combination of offices and meeting rooms in a commercial setting, we walk you through the steps to completing your commercial concrete coating.

1. Create A Plan And Budget For Your New Coated Concrete Floors

One big difference between commercial and residential floor coating is the durability of a professionally installed concrete coating. There's a certain amount of downtime required to allow our installation team to make your floors look brand new. Many businesses choose to schedule flooring installation during a naturally slow time. Even so, it takes planning to make sure that the installation area is ready before our team arrives. Taking time to carefully plan how you will prepare for and handle the downtime required for professional concrete coating installation makes the entire process much easier.

Budgeting for a major floor coating installation is another concern for many commercial operations. Rest assured that our installation coordinators have a lot of experience helping business owners understand the exact costs associated with a new commercial concrete coating.

2. Consultation With Our Flooring Experts

Are you unsure about exactly which type of concrete coating may best serve the needs of your commercial operation? Even if you've conducted extensive research on the topic, our team of concrete coating experts may have suggestions to help you get the most out of your new coated floors.

No two clients have the same needs, so we specialize in creating a customized plan to help you reach your goals. We offer more than 60 types of flooring, each of which adheres to industry best practices. We'll help you choose the flooring that makes sense for your business while considering OSHA requirements, hygienic standards, and other compliance guidelines.

Our flooring options include four main categories; Polyurethane, Urethane Mortar, Novolac, and 100% Solid Epoxy.

Ultimately, you'll choose the flooring option that best meets your needs while staying within your budget. We are here to help you understand all of your options so you can get the most value out of your investment.

3. Prep Work

Before our installers arrive, it's important to remove anything that's on the floor in the area where we will apply the coating. Our team will meet with you before installation day to take a close look at your current flooring and if you need to clean, power wash, or treat your floors, we will go over the requirements with you step-by-step. If your floors require repairs prior to installation, we will talk you through your options.

We may also ask that you keep the heat or air conditioning running, depending on the outside temperatures. Certain floor coatings adhere and cure best within specific temperature ranges. Our consultant will talk with you about humidity requirements, as well. We work hard to schedule flooring installation during times when the weather is most accommodating so you get the best possible results.

4. Floor Care

We want you to enjoy your beautiful floor for years to come, and keeping it looking brand new requires certain floor care practices. In general, using large brooms and shop vacs to pick up loose debris before mopping is a smart move. Sand and grit can harm the coating's uppermost layer over time if it's constantly dragged across the floor's surface with a mop. For thorough cleaning, a microfiber cleaning pad or large mop works well with most concrete floor coatings. Non-chemical cleaners help remove stubborn grime, as well.

The acids in citrus cleaners, harsh chemicals, and concentrated vinegar solutions make them effective for cleaning the toughest messes, but over time, they may degrade the coating's finish and diminish your floor's sheen. Soap may leave a hazy film or streaks. Using soap on your concrete coatings may also cause slipping hazards. Our team will go over your floor care plan with you to make sure you have the knowledge you need to preserve your coated floor for years to come.

At Concrete Coatings of the Carolinas, we are with our clients every step of the way, from planning and budgeting to aftercare. Contact us today to learn more about which coating may work best for your commercial location.
